Cynefin has relatively recently become part of the Agile toolkit, but has a prior history of being used in multiple situations including policymaking within the George W. Bush administration, measurement in the NHS, management of food chain risks and interactions during disaster control.
Dave Snowden developed the Cynefin framework and is now founder and Chief Scientific Officer of Cognitive Edge, a consulting company and research network focusing on complexity theory in sensemaking.
